Historic Healthcare Bill Passed

The bill states that all Americans buy insurance or potentially face fines. It also calls for assistance for low-income families to help cover the cost of health insurance, and prevent insurance companies from denying coverage due to pre-existing conditions.

White House officials have indicated that President Obama hopes to have the bill on his desk before his State of the Union speech in late January, but others on Capitol Hill have forecasted that it will be difficult for Congress to meet that deadline.
